This piece is a part of a Forest of Memory theme in Winter's Gift, about getting lost in memories of the past, and finding a way to see the path beyond.
This photo holds many memories for me. It was from my first shoot outside after breaking my ankle. The location is on the campus at the University of Kentucky where I went to college.  And next to the first building I worked on on campus, as well as other buildings I worked on during my time in architecture.
I remember walking by here over the years and what was going on in my life around those moments.  This single image holds hundreds of memories - fragmented and tangential like leaves on many branches.
I've inverted the exposure and mirrored the image as a reflection. The band in the middle represents a sparkling snowy bank on a body of water where the reflection doubles the forest.  This image is reversable, but I prefer it in this orientation. The top is glossy and reflective. The refection (in this orientation) is upside down and inverted.  Creating a sense of disorientation, like being lost. Lost in memory.
As with many of my pieces, I've hidden a painted silhouette of a cat in this image.
